Anna Ruth is 3!

On October 12th, Anna turned 3! And boy did she have a good time doing it. :)

I stayed up late the night before, getting the decorations and presents ready.

She woke up happy and excited. Such a big girl! (getting teary-eyed just looking at this picture)

After donning her new "I am 3" shirt, it was present time!

Molly had fun watching, and was actually very good at not trying to "help".

She got soo many fun new things! Most included Dora or Princesses.

The first thing to do was the new puzzles!

Then it was off to the pumpkin farm!

After a delicious spaghetti supper (her favorite) it was time for birthday cake!

She even had a couple of friend over to share.

Overall, it was a great day!

Can you believe she was ever this small?

Sew Cute!

There was a great sale on Amazon.com on sewing machines, something that I've been wanting for a long time, so while my in-laws were here, my mother-in-law ordered it for me as an early Christmas gift!

I haven't really sewn anything since grade school (thank you Lutheran Girl Pioneers!), so I definitely needed to brush up on my basic sewing skills. I spent a night practicing all the different stitches, threading the bobbin and needle, etc.

Finally, it was time to get something made! I saw this chevron fabric at HobLob, and loved it. My first thought was that it would make a cute bag. After searching Pinterest I found this tutorial. It seemed basic and was easy to follow, and felt fairly confident I could tackle it.

Here it is!!

It is FAR from perfect, I had a Tim Gunn "make it work" moment when my measurements were off, and I had to use the seam ripper a couple of times, but I did it. And I'm pretty proud of myself.

Isn't it pretty? And it's functional! Double bonus!!

When Grandma and Papa came to town

Last week, Dan's parents came to visit. They live 12 hours away in Michigan, so visits are unfortunately few and far between. My father-in-law is also a pastor, so weekday visits work best for them and us! They arrived here late on Sunday night and stayed until Thursday morning. The girls were in heaven. Grandma was the best playmate, and Papa was great at reading stories. Of course they spoiled our girls, but that's okay, because they don't get to do it often. We are soo thankful they were able to make the trip. The girls were soo sad to see them go.

(This is what happens when I try to get a picture of me and the girls...)
